About Us

As the name suggests, we are a friendly group of people who love to keep active and fit by playing tennis throughout the year. Whilst competitive, the social aspect is equally important.

Our Stroud tennis club sessions are twice weekly –  Sunday mornings 10-12 and Thursday evenings  6-8 at Stratford Park tennis courts in Stroud. We play doubles, a set of 5 games and then we rotate, so that everyone gets to know each other, to partner with and play against.

In addition to the Stroud tennis club sessions, people join together to form smaller groups who then arrange to play at other times in the week.

Standard of Play

We have members of all abilities, but to join, all you need is to be able to serve and play a game.

We have a large number of seniors in the club, with several inspirational players in their seventies and even eighties, and over half our members are female.

Now that the courts have been resurfaced we really want to encourage more people to enjoy the benefits of tennis and join up and since the new courts have opened this is happening!

Annual Tournament

We organise an annual tournament which is as much a social event as a competition; family and friends join, we all bring food and drinks and we take full advantage of the beautiful Stratford Park grounds.

This year’s tournament Sunday 3rd September!

Social Events

In addition to tennis , we arrange a number of social events throughout the year – walks in the surrounding area  followed by pub lunches, an annual Christmas evening meal and an annual AGM hosted by members who have a enough room to fit the group – another very social event with food and wine. The whatsapp group was a real positive during lockdown – we all kept in touch, sharing stories and, of course, videos!

Racquet Stringing

We have our very own in-house stringer. Mike Oaten is fully qualified and offers a personalised service in that he’ll string your racquet to suit your style of play and at a very reasonable cost.
